HISTORY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT & DIRECTORATE OF MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION :

In the British regim the Urban Development Department was known as '' Local Self Government & Public Health Department"

From 1960 Name of Local Self Government & Public Health Department has been changed changed as Urban Development Department.

Directorate of Municipal Administration is extablished in 1965.

Up to 1975 Designation of the Director of Municipal Administration was "'Director of Municipal Administration & Secretory of the Urban Development Department''.

Henceforth Designation has been changed as Secretory Urban Development & Public Health & Directorate Municipal Administration''

Department of Urban Development &  The Department of Public Health are separeted from 1.12.1982.

From 1.1.1993 it is startred to post an IAS Officer on the post of Director & Commissioner of Municipal Administration.
